Outgoing Phone Calls

In this figure, the extensions can call other extensions directly. The outside calls go through Outbound Routes.

The outbound routes can be setup based on dial rules.

911 goes to PSTN phones
long distance goes to SIP trunk
local calls go to PSTN phones
if SIP trunk is unavailable, send calls to PSTN phones

example 2

all calls go to SIP trunk
if SIP trunk is not working, then direct calls go out PSTN
